Garage Storage & Organization

You can see how the new ladder folds up into the rafters and doesn't get in the way of anything.

The ladder is in two pieces and built to the same dimensions as a step ladder but just a little wider.

When completely folded down it is nice and solid and has fairly wide steps so it should be easy to get up and down with boxes and other stuff.

It was built with construction adhesive and four lag bolts per step plus a small strap under the ends of each step, like everything else here it's way over built.

I installed a couple of light fixtures, an outlet and a switch, this will make it easier to find things up there.

This is the hand crank winch that raises and lowers the ladder.

I got the floor finished and most of the stuff moved in, all in 94 degree weather!

I'm not surprised but it's almost full already.

We moved the kayaks from the hanging straps to rigid racks on the wall, they were taking up too much space before.

These dowels keep the boat on the rack and are removable so it's easier to get them up there.

I also got the utility sink installed, the hardest part was digging around in the wall to find the plumbing to tap into.

It's going to be great to have a sink in the garage, I can't wait to use it!

I built this work bench early last year but it's been a mess ever since, the bins on the shelf have helped clean it up a lot.

The cabinets were from a scratch and dent kitchen/bath shop, they are fairly good quality and were very cheap, I have tools, bike parts and whatever else fits inside them.

The bikes are all hung up to keep them out of the way, that alone saves tons of floor space and makes the garage feel much larger.
