September 24, 2007: And we're back!! Wow it feels good to be home, we traded in the 80's and humid for the 50's and dry but I'm ok with that.
We had a great week, everything went well and now I have a sister-in-law! They are off on their honeymoon as I write this, somewhere in Mexico I believe, I'm sure my brother's
hangover has worn off by now too. He had a bit too much to drink at the reception and ended up missing the last bit of it, that's the stuff that stories are made of I guess.
It was weird to be back in New England again, flying into the airport that we normally fly out of was actually quite weird. We ended up meeting my old friends from work for drinks
Friday night and had a blast. I guess I forgot how much I missed them all, we just went to the dive bar down the street and we still had a great time, Lisa even enjoyed it and she
had only met a couple of them once before. My friend Paul came through just like he said he would and had a case of
Berkshire Brewing Company Raspberry Strong Ale that was brewed back in February. It comes in 22oz.
bottles so there is only 12 in a case. We had to pack them in our suitecases for the trip home so we drank one and gave away two before the trip back. When we unpacked last night
they were all intact, we were both very surprised by what we found. The first day back to work after a break is always tough but this one was real bad. We ended up getting to bed
after the reception at about 3am and got up to leave for the airport at 5am. We didn't really sleep on the plane at all and got home just before dinner time. We had enough energy
to have something to eat and then ended up crashing at a few minutes after 6pm. We both woke up at 7am this morning, nothing like 13 hours of sleep to catch up after a weekend of
travelling and partying. So other than all that things are good around here, work is as busy as ever, maybe a bit worse for me this week. The weather is supposed to be a bit on
the wet side this week but I'm gonna try to get some biking in, we'll see how it works out. Lisa is off this coming weekend we're taking our first ferry ride to pick up my new bike,
I found a sweet deal on a used bike owned by a shop owner and have been waiting for over a month to go out to pick it up. We haven't been out that way since we moved here so we're going
to make a day of it and do some exploring, maybe we'll get some pictures too. I guess I should bail for now, keep in touch, we'll talk again soon.
September 12, 2007: Hey there, how's things? We're doing pretty good out here, the weather has been amazing this week, even though summer
is basically over. Lisa worked last weekend but I had it off and got to relax a bit. It was great to have Saturday to get some things around the house done and just
September 5, 2007: Gonna be a quick update tonight, just a few things to say then I'm outta here. The camping trip was incredible as
always, the weather wasn't perfect but it was plenty good enough. We were able to get the campsite we wanted without any trouble and even stayed a whole extra day
as planned. I updated the pictures in the Kayak log and even added a short video as well, check it out when you can. The rest of the week so far has been fairly
crazy between work and everything else. Our friend Foodmike is going to be in town tomorrow for work so we're going to get together for dinner and a few drinks when
he's free. He takes off late Friday night but was going to look into staying for part of the weekend, hopefully he can make that happen, it's supposed to be a beautiful
weekend as far as the weather goes, perfect site seeing weather. I've been running around all afternoon trying to get things cleaned up and organized around here, I need
to tackle the camping gear next, it just got dropped in the house when we got home Monday night, we were real tired. Anyway, I should run, check out the pictures and we'll
talk again soon!
do nothing if that's what I wanted to do, and it was most of the time. We got to hang out a bit in the evenings which was cool. Sunday I went for a bike ride with
Kyle at these trails the guys at the bike shop
down the street told me about. The riding was great and my leg seemed to hold up well. It feels like I'm still riding very cautiously but no matter how I'm riding
it feels great to get out on some trails again. On a daily basis my leg bothers me but for some reason riding it's completely fine, I'll probably make an appointment to
see my doctor about it when we get back from Dave and Lauren's wedding in two weeks. I'm sure there isn't anything he can do but he did tell me to come and see him if it
wasn't getting better, that was quite a while ago too. Work has been just as busy as ever for Lisa, they have had record sales in the last few weeks. I've worked
three nights this week including tonight, which is about the most I can handle. Lisa is off this weekend and we're going to try to get some time together at home to rest
a bit before we leave for the wedding next week, it feels like it's been a while that we've been home for a weekend. Isabella and Eric sent us some pictures of their
camping trip with the horses and Lottie, our future pup's mother. The new pictures got us thinking about the puppy arriving here again, it's going to be tough but we are
still very excited. Anyway, I'm going to grab a bite to eat and cutover a backhaul circuit from a DS3 to a GigE in Nashville, sounds like a great time doesn't it?
