February 28, 2007:  Unreal huh, another update?  Well, I figured why not, I have a few things to report so I'll throw them down for you all.  We moved the tub back onto the patio last night but had to wait to fill it until today so we could be totally sure that the patch job is set.  All this leaving the tub empty isn't good, especially when it's been as cold as it has out here.  We were able to get most of the water out but you never know if there is any left that could cause problems.  I put a 60W light bulb inside to keep it warm and it seemed to work.  Tonight after work I cleaned it out, put a coat of polish on the acrylic, cleaned the filters, hooked the electric back up, filled it up with water and got the heater working again.  All this just before it started snowing!  The timing really couldn't have been better.  The water isn't warm but at least the heater is running and it will be ready to go by tomorrow night.  I'll sleep a lot better tonight knowing that I don't have to worry about it freezing up.  The tap water is 50 degrees so we're already better off with that water than with it empty.  Other than that, not much is really new.  We're hoping to have a good weekend of getting stuff done around here.  It's either going to be more paint or more hanging doors, perhaps both.  We have 6 more doors to cut, hang a paint and then we're finished with the doors, well, other than the bi-fold closet doors anyway.  Oh, I was cleaning out the gutters on the garage Sunday and noticed a couple of shingles were missing and there was a golf ball sized hole right through the roof.  It must have been from the windstorm and I never noticed it, either way the roofers were here the other day and they fixed it.  It seems like you really need to babysit these cedar roofs, a pain if you ask me.  Anyway, I guess that's about it for now, I added a few more pictures to the patio project page so check em.

February 27, 2007:  Back again, sorry for the delay, it was a long week.  We had a little gathering at the house the weekend before I left for my trip.  We had some steaks on the grill, beers and some chillin in the hot tub, it was pretty awesome.  We found a solution to the uneven patio problem, a company that can inject mortar underneath the slab came out to give us a quote last week .  I worked about 65 hours while in Denver last week, we had to basically rebuild the entire network in the data center there, it was a horrible mess but looks much better now.  I got back into town late Friday night and spent all day Saturday hauling junk to the dump, cutting out a stump and moving rotten wood to the large compost pile down the road.  Someone cut down a large tree in our yard probably about 12 years ago and just stacked up the wood in the corner near the fence.  It looked bad sitting there and as we start to work on the landscaping it was going to need to go so I figured why not now?  Well, it was the nastiest thing I've had to do in a while, basically it looked like liquified butternut squash with bugs sprinkled on top, roughly, use your imagination.  Saturday evening after Lisa got home from work we embarked on a search for some picture frames and art to decorate the wall behind the television in the living room.  We actually found all that we were looking for and got it on the cheap too, sweet.  Sunday morning I spent a few hours messing with the hot tub including disconnecting the electric and draining it.  I made another trip to the compost pile with that rotten slop from the yard, at least it's done now, this last trip was even worse than the others.  In the afternoon Kyle, Chris and Thomas came by to help me slide the tub off the patio so it could be fixed on Monday.  Yesterday they came by and did the work on the slab, it came out great too, check out the pictures in the 'Projects' section as always.  We put up the new picture frames last night and they really look cool, I promise I'll update the pictures this week, the room is officially done now so I'll do it, for real.  Other than all that not much is new, Lisa is off this weekend and we are hoping to knock out the rest of the doors and start on the rest of the painting too.  The tub is getting slid back into place tonight and filled back up tomorrow after work.  It should be warm by Thursday evening so we can start enjoying it again, hopefully it stays level this time!  Anyway, have a great week.

February 9, 2007:  It sure has been a while since I've done two updates in the same week, don't get too used to it!  I have a real bad cold but I haven't had one in a few years so I guess I had it coming.  It's a perfect excuse to sit on the couch and do an update, oh, and not be upstairs painting.  The week was moving along well, nothing all that exciting, not until Thursday anyway.  That's when they showed up to change out the skywall in the kitchen.  If you have been following the site and how things have been going for us since we moved I probably don't have to tell you how the rest of the day went.  For those that don't sit back for a heck of a tale.  They deglazed the old wall and pulled off the flashing and all trim inside and out.  They pulled out and chopped out the old framework and got ready to install the new one.  They realized it was a little short but a 2x4 under it was going to solve that problem, we were fine with that, easy to hide with the trim.  As they made progress we realized that none of the dimensions were right, too short, too narrow and the pitch was even wrong.  The guys doing the work were awesome and told me to call their boss and tell him what I thought about the whole thing.  I did and he instructed them to get the space closed in with the new window and they would get to the bottom of why it was wrong and order another replacement.  That will take another 3+ weeks but to be honest, it almost makes me laugh, it's been such a mess so far.  I have some pictures of what they have done so far on the House Projects page.  The other exciting news is that I found us a great deal on a hot tub for the back yard.  We have been thinking about it for a while, we even based our choice of house on how a tub would fit in the yard.  I'll update the pictures as we get it installed and start to come up with a design for the deck.  It will be delivered tomorrow morning and the guy that does the electrical at my work will be by later to get started wiring it up for us.  The original owners of the house had a tub somewhere back there so there is conduit from the breaker panel to the spot we will have to put the disconnect box so his job shouldn't be too bad.  I'll get some pictures and try to get them up later in the weekend.  Other than that not much is new, once I kick this cold I'll finish the painting and doors upstairs, I did update the pictures of the DVD cabinet and the laundry room though so I'm not too bad of a slacker after all.  Anyway, have a great weekend.

February 6, 2007:  Sorry again that it takes me so long to get these updates up but here goes for this week.  We had a somewhat chill weekend and still made a lot of progress on some house projects, oh, and we went out too!  I did my usual nothing after work each night the first few nights of the week, after a busy weekend nothing feels better.  I did retrofit and install a ClosetMaid sliding wire basket drawer underneath the bottom sheft of our pantry though, it came out pretty good considering it is really meant to be installed in one of those big closet organizing systems.  Once I got rested I started getting the laundry room ready for paint, patching about 20 screw and drywall anchor holes in the walls and priming the trim, door casing and garage facing door.  I changed the light switches as we have been doing, there are four in this room alone and masked off the cabinets to get ready to paint Friday night after work.  Lisa was off Friday so when I got home from work we were able to move the washer and dryer to the living room, finish up the priming and even get a coat of paint on the walls before it got too late.  Saturday morning we went to Lowe's to get more door knobs, some lumber to build legs for the bed, and the stuff to add another hanger bar to the coat closet.  We also got a slide out trash can mount for under the sink to use for recycling and after much searching ordered the blinds for the living room and bedroom.  They should be arriving at the house in a week or so and we can't wait!  When we got home I started and barely finished the floor in the laundry room.  I had some trouble with a few of the cuts so I had to get Gregg on the horn for some tips, we got through it and I think it came out pretty nice, really makes it look like a different room.  We re-hung the door, put both new knobs on, replaced all the wall plates, mounted the Dustbuster that has been sitting on the floor in a corner since we bought it over a year ago and the room can be stamped done!  We ended up going out for drinks with some friends for Piseth's belated birthday and didn't get home until at least 3am.  We slept in quite a bit on Sunday but still were able to get the recycle bin slider installed and build the legs for the bed, I'll explain.  The bed frame seems to be built for a one piece foundation, we have a two piece because the house I lived in back when it was new had a horrible staircase and a one piece wouldn't make it.  The night we originally put it together, at about 3am when we put the foundation on we noticed that it was sagging.  I was able to find some bricks to stack under the three cross braces to keep it stable but now that we have to move it to paint we needed to replace those with something more permanent.  I made some simple legs up with a small piece of 2x4 and 2x6, they actually look pretty decent and work great.  The bed is set up in the middle of the room so we can finish the painting.  Half of the room is just about done, the other half will get finished later this week and into the weekend and then we can put the room back together again.  I'll still have the two toughest doors in the house to deal with but I picked up the parts I needed earlier in the week so I should be good to go.  I also added another bar to the coat closet for putting the off season coats on, it's behind and below the current one and should work out real well.  Early this week we found out that the glass company will be arriving Thursday bright and early to install the new SkyWall in the kitchen, hopefully they can get it done in one day, crossing my fingers anyway, the weather has been ok but it's supposed to start raining later in the week.  I'm going to be working from home that day and I will get lots of pictures of the process.  I added some pictures of the laundry room and will be adding more of the hallway and living room later this week, I promise.  There has also been a request to see what the wall behind the DVD cabinet looks like so I will be adding that as well, maybe later tonight if I get to it.  Anyway, hopefully you all had a good weekend, talk to you again soon.
