10.1.2005 - 10.31.2005
October 26, 2005: Things are finally starting to slow down a bit, just a bit though. We
picked up the new Ridgeline on Monday and it's everything we thought it would be. The navigation system is incredible,
the leather is awesome, basically everything about it rules! We'll get some more pictures of it when the weather clears
up a little, my friend from work took this one with his camera phone. October 20, 2005: What a crazy week it's been. Lisa has been up late every night trying
to keep up with the homework she gets everyday at her internship. After tomorrow she has 5 days left on this one
before the next one starts. Work has been crazy as ever for me, one of those weeks that whatever I touched seemed
to fall apart. Luckily there is only one more day left, hopefully it will go smoother than the week has so far.
The sale of the Hyundai is moving along smoothly, we got the entire payment and the title has been sent out to the new
owner, now we're just waiting on the transport company he hired to give us a date that they will be here to pick it
up. I got good and bad news about the new Ridgeline yesterday. The good news was that it came in early and
the bad news was that it was severely damaged in transit and wouldn't be going home with me, great. Lucky for us
though the dealer was able to track one down that was ordered but never picked up. It was built about 10 days before
the one we ordered was and arrived about a week ago. We will be picking it up Tuesday after work if everything goes
well. I've been bumming rides from friends at work all week and I'm starting to miss driving myself around.
Lisa has been rocking the Element too, like she's been doing it for years. Anyway, have a great weekend, it's time to
crash.
October 16, 2005: It's been a while since we've done an update, tons of things have happened
so let's get right to it. The last time we talked was the day before we left for TN for Tom and Erin's wedding.
The weather wasn't all that great though it cleared up in time for the ceremony and everyone had a great time.
October 6, 2005: We will be leaving for the wedding early tomorrow morning but I figured
there was a little time for an update. I updated the CVS camera page with a new piece of software for downloading
your videos, it makes it work like a disk drive, October 3, 2005: What a weekend! Fall is our favorite time of year and this was a
perfect Fall weekend. Lisa had a presentation to prepare for and she had to work Saturday at the pharmacy so
she stayed around the house. My brother and I went up to NH to go out to dinner with my grandfather for his
89th birthday and to have a soak in his hot tub. We also got in a little riding too, he had my Dad's Forman
and I was on the trusty Rincon. We rode about 60 miles on Saturday and another 20 miles Sunday morning with
Eric. We rode a bit more than we planned on Saturday and ended up both rolling into the parking lot with the
machines running on reserve, we were closer to running out of fuel than we would have liked to be. When we realized that
gas might start to be a problem we were at least 15 miles from anything, luckily the tanks are a little bigger than we
thought or we would have had some walking to do. I put pictures and videos up on the ATV Log page under 'Other
Stuff'. Lisa is just getting over a really bad cold, she's had a rough week at her rotation being as sick as she's
been, hopefully I don't get what she had and she feels back to 100% soon. We are off to Tom and Erin's wedding this
weekend in TN and it looks like its going to be a great time. When we get back we have to get the Hyundai listed
on Ebay so if it sells we'll have the money by the time the new Ridgeline comes in. The next few weeks are going
to fly by and we can't wait, I can't stop thinking about the new truck. We're getting excited about our trip at
the end of the month too, Lisa will be done with her toughest rotation so she will hopefully be able to relax a bit
through the next one. Anyway, time to crash, we'll get pictures up of the wedding as soon as we get
back, enjoy the rest of the week.
It's not the greatest but you get the idea. I put the chip deflector on last night and programmed some things like the
garage door opener and the auto door lock/unlock function. There are so many settings that can be changed it's going to
take me months to figure them all out, especially with the navigation. I even figured out some of the voice command
stuff, like "cd play track five" which most of the time plays track five, sometimes it scans all the tracks, I'll have to watch
my annunciating. Lisa has two days after today on her rotation from hell, hopefully less if they get let out early on
Friday. I have to get tires put on the Element before our trip to Rochester this weekend, I took Friday off for my
birthday so it works out well, Lisa will have to drive the Ridgeline to the hospital though, she might not want to give it back
after, it's pretty swank inside, I wouldn't blame her. It should be a great weekend, getting some tattoo work and hanging
out with friends, oh and eating Rochester food too. It will be nice to have a weekend home next week though, only the
second week in November Gregg is coming down and we're installing hardwood flooring in the house, now I will be able to put
pictures up on the site of the inside, the carpet is so nasty it's embarrassing. Just so you can all see how crazy the
weather can be up north in NH where I grew up, this is from Wildcat Mountain,
the place we grew up skiing at. Anyway, we'll have pictures from the weekend up Sunday night hopefully, have a great
rest of the week and weekend too!
It was great
to see some friends, Tom's family, and meet Erin's. too Our flight home was delayed so we got home really late Sunday
night, which was fine for Lisa because she had Monday off but I had to work so it sucked a little. I added a page
to the 'Weddings' link on the left, check out the pictures if you can. While we were away Jessica and Eric finally
had the baby, Garrett was born Friday, October 7, 2005. I don't know exactly how they spelled it but I gave it a
guess anyway. Here he is later that week, he's got a hell of a head of hair on him too, I'm a little jealous to be
honest. We listed the Hyundai on Ebay Monday after I got home from work, the auction was set to end the following Monday
night so we would only be short a car for about a week. That plan kind of backfired in a good way though when
someone chose the Buy It Now option and ended the auction the day after it started. That meant that we had to stop
driving it as soon as he sent a deposit which was later that same day. It was a little tricky but I got rides from
a couple people from work and will have to do the same this week and part of next. I spoke to the dealer and the
Ridgeline's delivery has been delayed by a couple days, now it's due between the 22nd and 26th of this month, we're hoping
it might show up early though. The Hyundai will be picked up by a transport company this week and is actually going
to end up about 2 blocks from where Tom works in Ohio, pretty strange how that works out. While we were gone a chunk
of the state fell into the river, I guess they got 8" of rain that weekend. It's been raining pretty much ever since
we got back too. Yesterday I was doing my normal Saturday chores around the homestead and it was raining so hard that
they had to close interstate 91 just over the border into CT because a lane or two fell into a stream, crazyness.
Gregg was here with Matthew to help me fix the damage Isis did to the window about a year ago and to measure the house for
installing the hardwood floors in a couple weeks. Lisa got to babysit all day, Matthew was very good too, he's a cute
kid and picks things up very quick. Anyway, I think that's everything you missed, though I will probably
remember something else tomorrow. Have a great week.
pretty slick actually. I also finished work on the trailer and put some pictures up of that too. The weather has
been incredible here, an amazing Fall so far. Just yesterday I was outside until dark with shorts and a tee shirt on,
washing mud off the trailer and taking the boat racks off the Element for the season, I normally would need gloves by now.
Even though it's been so warm Mount Washington has still had a visit from winter, this was taken just last week. It
warmed back up and melted away but I'm sure that the rain, snow, sleet and 125 mph winds that created that image didn't give
the crew on the summit a warm feeling about winter arriving. I thought I was ready for winter to get here but after looking
at that picture for a few minutes I changed my mind, maybe it will get a late start down this way. It would be nice if
the cold weather holds off until we get the Hyundai sold and have the new truck here to replace it. Lisa is doing really
well driving the Element and has even taken it out a few times on her own but it needs new tires before we have snow and ice
on the road for her to deal with. They have about 47,000 miles so far and for a set of Goodyear light truck tires that's
pretty good, amazing actually. On a completely different note, a couple of our friends are having babies any day now, Eric
and Jessica's son is a few days late and Todd and Carla's daughter should arrive any day now. Everyone is making babies,
I wonder how long before Tom and Erin get one going too, I say within a year at the most. Pat and Fran from the famous
pat_fran v2.0 are expecting as well, maybe it was the extra hot Spring/Summer that caused all the baby-making. We aren't
in any hurry to add to our family though, maybe someday. That's about it for now, we'll get lots of pictures from the
wedding and do our best to get them up Monday, enjoy the long weekend if you get it!
